La Cueca: The National Dance of Chile

Exactly one year ago today, I premiered my one-man show, PARADOX. A night word-class magic, mentalism, and extraordinary human connection. The following video is a short excerpt of that show. Enjoy!

“Dee Dee has been a lifelong dancer. When she was six years old she studied Folklorico dancing; the traditional dances of Mexico. As she got older, she studied other forms of dancing, and a while ago she told me about a dance called La Cueca. It’s also known as the Handkerchief Dance. It’s the national dance of Chile. Apparently people would take these handkerchiefs and twirl them around their heads as they danced. LA Cueca. The Handkerchief dance. When she told me about this, it got me thinking that I should come up with may own version of the handkerchief dance, and since I’m a magician, this is what I came up with.
